Over the next 25 days we’ll be sharing classic holiday songs, modern holiday songs, classic holiday songs sang by modern groups/singers and some songs that just sound like holiday songs because they use sleigh bells and sing like Bing Crosby. I hope you’ll enjoy as we haphazardly choose (I realize that’s ironic) some holiday tunes for you.
Day 14 – We’re hitting the home stretch. At this point I hope you’re eating that terrible chocolate from your advent calendar. Love what it stands for, but let’s face it, that chocolate is terrible. I mentioned in a previous post my love for the band Copeland. They did a version of “Do You Hear What I Hear?” that I often listen to on repeat as it gets closer to Christmas day. His voice coupled with the instrumentals backing it make for a truly amazing Christmas song.
Day 15 – I’d like to thank Ben Gibbard for 3 things:
- The entire Postal Service album
- Ending things with Zooey Deschanel so I have a chance
- This version of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
The simplest of guitar riffs (it’s only 4 chords), yet he does such an awesome job with his version of this song. It probably has something to do with effortless ability to sound super emo and this being likely the most emo Christmas song ever written.
